PICHWAI is an Art form that originated 400 years ago near a temple town of Nathdwara near Udaipur in Rajasthan. PICHWAI means a textile hanging as they were used as a backdrop for temple shrines and homes as ceiling canopies.
Slowly, PICHWAI painting has found its way to be incorporated into our Textiles. The concept adopted for PICHWAI painting is either The RASALEELA of Lord Krishna's or things usually seen around Krishna (cow, lake, and lotus ponds).
